Pea Soup and technical challenges

It’s now a week since returning from hot Cyprus to cold Norway. Even Though the weather was kind of warm the first days after returning, it is now into normal for October to be. Last night we had temperatures just below zero. For a while last evening I thought the first snow had arrived, but it was only humidity freezing to the ground. The weather during daytime has been clear, sunny and cool, giving us a chance to clear the garden of withered leaves etc.

In preparation to our trip to USA, Belize, Honduras and Mexico, we went down to the local vaccination office and topped up with needed vaccines. Last time was in 2007. Sometimes It is quite ok to get a kick in the But. Strange enough it was the same lady giving the vaccine today as in 2007, and she did not look any older.

The Subscribe section on my blog has been tested and looks to be working fine. One problem has been that there are mal ware out there reading blogs and sending real mailaddresses with fictitious names to the Subscriber. They are easy to spot, just need a bit of manual work now and then to remove them.

First Real subscriber was Linda Terheege, congratulations:-), followed by Roy and Julie Hasket, all good friends from Cyprus. If all goes as planned, and tested, a mail will go out tomorrow morning at 4 am with information to you about this post.

During the last few days I have also worked with WordPress plugins to get the blog into a multilingual state. So father I have had no success. Since my blog is small and has no income, plugins with a price tag has been ruled out. Several other plugins, that will do real translation, have reviews with good reputations. However, none of them seem to work. One called Babbel was installed and halted my whole blog. Luckily WordPress set itself into automatic recovery mode. I was a bit sweaty for a while. Then the Translatepress plugin rehome to be the best of them, did not work at all, was looping whenever starting the translate process.

A Multilingual Blog is for the time being put on hold. Instead I have installed the automatic Google translate plugin. This does not give a foolproof translation, but will give a flavour of whats going on. Until further notice, I will continue to write in English.

Then, last, what has pea soup to do into all this technical stuff?

Answer is absolutely nothing, but I needed a couple of pictures in this post. Those who knows me, know I like good food, and it shows, like a perfect cooked tenderloin with for example a bottle of Cotes de Rhone to go with it. However, what I like best is simple food, what in Norwegian is mentioned as “house fare”. Have not yet found the English word for it. I’m also blessed with a wife who under stands me and knows how to cook. So a bunch of yellow peas, (My Muslim friends, please close your eyes now) one lightly salted and one smoked pork knucle, water, tyme, onion and some salt makes this wonderful dish that I love. A glas of aquavit and a beer is a must, nothing beats it
