    Pea Soup and technical challenges

It’s now a week since returning from hot Cyprus to cold Norway. Even Though the weather was kind of warm the first days after returning, it is now into normal for October to be. Last night we had temperatures just below zero. For a while last evening I thought the first snow had arrived, but it was only humidity freezing to the ground. The weather during daytime has been clear, sunny and cool, giving us a chance to clear the garden of withered leaves etc. In preparation to our trip to USA, Belize, Honduras and Mexico, we went down to the local vaccination office and topped up with needed vaccines.…

    Follow my blog

During the last few days, since returning from Cyprus, I have worked on some issues on my blog. No1, the multilingual bit. I have hit some problems here after testing some plug-ins. So far, the ones I have testet has not been up to my standards. So therefore, my friends, I will continue writing in English for another while. No big deal actually, as the blog is most of all meant for my English speaking friends. No2, the ability to subscribe to my blog. During my search I found 3 service providers that could fullfil my needs, Aweber, Feedburner and MailChimp. Aweber has a heavy price tag, $19 per month…

    7 weeks wihout socks done

7 weeks without socks were done yesterday and what an exit we had. Morning started a bit stressful by the taxidriver showing up an hour early. Taxi was booked for 6.30 so he just had to have an extra nap in the car. When leaving Sweetwater Bay we noticed big cloud formations in the sky and knew there was some rain forecasted. Just thought it was a perfect day to leave after so many days in the sun. Finally we had a taxi driver that did not thought he was Michel Schumacher or Ayrton Senna. Had a nice and easy drive to Ercan airport. Check-in was done without any problem…

    Driving in the TRNC

Driving in the northern part of Cyprus can be challenging. TRNC has the highest traffic death rate in Europe. Cypriots is such a nice population. However, this is only until you put them behind the steering wheel of a car. Something weird happens and changes their personality. There are 2 type of drivers. One drives extremely slow and makes all other drivers mad. The next one, and the most of them, are the ones that have their own set of traffic rules. In addition they drive like mad, overtaking at any point. After driving here for 10 years without an accident, I feel quite proud. My record number of years…

    Sunday brunch at Kaya Palazzo

Today there are 2 events I will to add a post about. This is the first one, the second one at Stevie’s will be posted tomorrow. Every time we’re here, we like to indulge ourselves in abundance with a visit to the Kaya Palazzo hotel and it’s Sunday brunch table. This time it coinsided with the celebration of Özlem Lyons 50 year birthday. We were Sheila Lane, Phil Conkie with mum Delphine Conkie, Cynthia Wilbraham, Dennis Bucton, bırthday girl Özlem Lyon, David Lyon with niese Sandra Harding, Tove and I. Seams that Ozi(Özlem) likes to celebrate her day, as it for us is the second time in a couple of…

    Famagusta once more

After the Robbos lefte, we have gone very easy, hardly no contact with any one at all. There was a need of rest after some hectic days. Wednesday we had a drive into Girne for shopping, with just a lunch at Los Amigos. Stopped at Little Stones on our way back and had a long chat with David. Rest of the day was spent doing nothing and had a meal at home. Thursday, Tove and I took a trip to Famagusta again and the beach. Weather was just lovely. Imagine it’s mid October and the temperature in sea is still some 27-28 degrees. However, the beach was far from crowded.…

    End of summer

Absolutely all weather predictions failed today. Predictions were sunny, max 30 degrees, no wind. However, this is October. The day started sizzling hot. Overcast, no wind, quivering, temperature rose to 36,9 before flattening out and decreasing. Rain started, but stopped just as sudden several times. Cushions had to be moved in and out. Then the wind started. Looking out on the sea seeing the wind shear, luckily I decided to take down the pergola on the roof terrace. Now at 11 pm strong winds and rain ravaging, moving furniture around. I believe this is the end of summer 2019. The proof of this will be on our next visit to…

A hairy night and Sunday roast

When writing this, it’s Monday, Tove and I have had our daily morning walk, had our shower and now just finished lunch. This day is predicted to be hot, 31 degrees officially. However, it’s overcast, so has yet not reached that high on the thermometer, but with more or less no winds, you can feel the heat and humidity. This October has been amazing. No wind, no rain and still high temperatures. Thinking back on the few last days, brings on a lot of good memories we can carry forward. On Friday we were invited to a gathering at Lin and Alan Murrell’s house. Incredible 25 people appeared, all English…
