Famagusta,  St. Barnabas

Grandpa is sad

It’s a sad day as we’ve just delivered Kristine, Stian, Amalie and Sebastian to Ercan Airport. A week goes extremely fast and they are now on their way back to cold Norway. Safe journey home and hope to see you again soon. Miss you a lot already ☹️.

However had a fine day today.

Started by going to the St. Barnabas monastery. The site is used as a museum for icons and archeological items. Sebastian and Amalie showed great interest and took a lot of pictures that are now shared to us on a joint Google photo folder.

As we were close to Famagusta, we drove to the town’s communal beach adjacent to the ghost town of Varosha. After a light lunch at the beach restaurant, we hired some sunbeds on the sandy beach and had several hours in the sand and in the sea. Even though it is early October, water is still nice and warm and suitable for a swim. The beach was really busy today.

Then back home to pack their stuff. Stopped and had some takeaway pizzas from the new pizza place in Esentepe, all eaten on the roof terrace.

Had a face time communication with Espen who has a weekend with his family in the summerhouse. Several weeks since we spoke last. Nice to catch up.
