An evening at Stevie’s
Later yesterday evening we went down to Stevie’s to make farewell to Linda and Graeme, and to listen to Graeme and Al playing. Those 2 men rocks. Had a nice evening with Linda Terheege, Julie and Roy Haskett. Rounded off with a coffee and brandy before returning home.

Sunday brunch at Kaya Palazzo
Today there are 2 events I will to add a post about. This is the first one, the second one at Stevie’s will be posted tomorrow. Every time we’re here, we like to indulge ourselves in abundance with a visit to the Kaya Palazzo hotel and it’s Sunday brunch table. This time it coinsided with the celebration of Özlem Lyons 50 year birthday. We were Sheila Lane, Phil Conkie with mum Delphine Conkie, Cynthia Wilbraham, Dennis Bucton, bırthday girl Özlem Lyon, David Lyon with niese Sandra Harding, Tove and I. Seams that Ozi(Özlem) likes to celebrate her day, as it for us is the second time in a couple of…

End of summer
Absolutely all weather predictions failed today. Predictions were sunny, max 30 degrees, no wind. However, this is October. The day started sizzling hot. Overcast, no wind, quivering, temperature rose to 36,9 before flattening out and decreasing. Rain started, but stopped just as sudden several times. Cushions had to be moved in and out. Then the wind started. Looking out on the sea seeing the wind shear, luckily I decided to take down the pergola on the roof terrace. Now at 11 pm strong winds and rain ravaging, moving furniture around. I believe this is the end of summer 2019. The proof of this will be on our next visit to…

A hairy night and Sunday roast
When writing this, it’s Monday, Tove and I have had our daily morning walk, had our shower and now just finished lunch. This day is predicted to be hot, 31 degrees officially. However, it’s overcast, so has yet not reached that high on the thermometer, but with more or less no winds, you can feel the heat and humidity. This October has been amazing. No wind, no rain and still high temperatures. Thinking back on the few last days, brings on a lot of good memories we can carry forward. On Friday we were invited to a gathering at Lin and Alan Murrell’s house. Incredible 25 people appeared, all English…

Ezic Peanuts, Pulp Kitchen, Pamper Yourself and Moonshine
Life goes on in the fast lane. Keeping the blog still gives me a bit of work, to keep it nice and tidy. A lot of pictures has been randomly uploaded, and have been kept in a big chunk. It’s easy to lose the overview, which I did. Searching around I found some plugins that have been tested. I landed on one called Mediamatic pro. Cost me a few bucks, but is well worth to avoid the hassle of uncategorised mediafiles . In between there is always time to visit some restaurants down here, some good, some not so good, and time to keep in touch with good friends. Making…

Bacalao, music and eco market
A few busy days have passed. On Saturday we were invited to Leif and Sølvi’s apartment for a bacalao party. There were quite several of us and a mix of nationalities. English, Russian, Swedes, Turks and of course Norwegians. Sølvi’s bacalao was better than any time and accompanied by enough wine. After the table, there were music. We have several talented musicians in the group, Dimitri, Dagfinn and Graeme all had sessions on guitar, playing, singing popular songs. After a while Dimitri disappeared, but returned with his electric piano. He really touched us all with his music. I walked home during early hours. Sunday started with strong winds, increasing during…

Grandpa is sad
It’s a sad day as we’ve just delivered Kristine, Stian, Amalie and Sebastian to Ercan Airport. A week goes extremely fast and they are now on their way back to cold Norway. Safe journey home and hope to see you again soon. Miss you a lot already ☹️. However had a fine day today. Started by going to the St. Barnabas monastery. The site is used as a museum for icons and archeological items. Sebastian and Amalie showed great interest and took a lot of pictures that are now shared to us on a joint Google photo folder. As we were close to Famagusta, we drove to the town’s communal…

Sweetwater Bay
Had my car cleaned yesterday. This is a genius idea. You call and book, and this young man arrives with his car and trailer. The trailer has an electric generator, vacuum cleaner, water tank and high pressure cleaner. Best of all, the price 50 tl for a complete outside, inside clean. Otherwise, not much ado. Stayed home during the day, in and around the pool. Amalie has found a couple of friends and was busy in the water all the time. Ended the evening with a BBQ on the roof terrace

Yaman, Lord’s Palace, Seawise and Dominic Holmes
Sunday was used entirely for recreation. Not that we needed it, but this is what Sundays are for. Stayed in or around the pool for most of the day. Amalie seems to be more under water than over. Ended the day with a visit to Yamans for dinner. On Monday, I had pre-booked a cabana again on Lord’s Palace Hotel again. Had a wonderful day with a lot of time in the sea. Daytime temperatures are still 30 with sea temperature dropped to 28. For dinner we went to Seawise Restaurant and Bar in the Esentepe area. A table was pre-booked with a lot of Bayer’s. We were, apart from…

Çiftlikdüzü Restaurant
Saturday during daytime, we did what we are best in, relaxing around the pool. We had decided to go out with David, Özlem and Talia. Amalia and Talia go very well together, and we would like them to meet again. This time we went to Çiftlikdüzü restaurant, my favourite local cypriot place. The restaurant is a local rustic place, with the best handmade, from the bottom, organic food. The place is run by my old friends, Leyla and Orhan Güvenlier with their children Olgun and Muzzi. Muzzi is at present being educated as a chef in a Famagusta school. Olgun is doing his compulsory military service in Turkey at the…
