Grandpa is sad
It’s a sad day as we’ve just delivered Kristine, Stian, Amalie and Sebastian to Ercan Airport. A week goes extremely fast and they are now on their way back to cold Norway. Safe journey home and hope to see you again soon. Miss you a lot already ☹️. However had a fine day today. Started by going to the St. Barnabas monastery. The site is used as a museum for icons and archeological items. Sebastian and Amalie showed great interest and took a lot of pictures that are now shared to us on a joint Google photo folder. As we were close to Famagusta, we drove to the town’s communal…

Sweetwater Bay
Had my car cleaned yesterday. This is a genius idea. You call and book, and this young man arrives with his car and trailer. The trailer has an electric generator, vacuum cleaner, water tank and high pressure cleaner. Best of all, the price 50 tl for a complete outside, inside clean. Otherwise, not much ado. Stayed home during the day, in and around the pool. Amalie has found a couple of friends and was busy in the water all the time. Ended the evening with a BBQ on the roof terrace

Yaman, Lord’s Palace, Seawise and Dominic Holmes
Sunday was used entirely for recreation. Not that we needed it, but this is what Sundays are for. Stayed in or around the pool for most of the day. Amalie seems to be more under water than over. Ended the day with a visit to Yamans for dinner. On Monday, I had pre-booked a cabana again on Lord’s Palace Hotel again. Had a wonderful day with a lot of time in the sea. Daytime temperatures are still 30 with sea temperature dropped to 28. For dinner we went to Seawise Restaurant and Bar in the Esentepe area. A table was pre-booked with a lot of Bayer’s. We were, apart from…

Çiftlikdüzü Restaurant
Saturday during daytime, we did what we are best in, relaxing around the pool. We had decided to go out with David, Özlem and Talia. Amalia and Talia go very well together, and we would like them to meet again. This time we went to Çiftlikdüzü restaurant, my favourite local cypriot place. The restaurant is a local rustic place, with the best handmade, from the bottom, organic food. The place is run by my old friends, Leyla and Orhan Güvenlier with their children Olgun and Muzzi. Muzzi is at present being educated as a chef in a Famagusta school. Olgun is doing his compulsory military service in Turkey at the…

Ercan, agm and Spice Garden
Friday started with picking up Stian, Kristine and children at the Ercan airport outside of Nicosia. Arrival was at 1.40 am from Oslo with a stopover in Istanbul. Met them to aid with baggage and look up the hire car. They were out around 2 am and we started walking around the car park searching for the car. Rental cars in this country is normally just delivered to the car park, with keys on one of the frontwheels and big sign inside with your name on. Cars are returned the same way, just leave it in the car park with keys on the frontwheel. Only issue of importance, is never…

Spice Garden, Little Stones and The dark side
On Tuesday, there were some need of repairs in the apartment, the main fly screen were falling off, and also a general tidying up before cleaners arrives tomorrow. After finishing my work early evening, i texted my good friend Khalid, who is running Spice Garden together with his brother Sajid, to have a table reserved. Actually not necessary, as I ‘m promised by Khalid to allways have a table no matter what. Spice Garden is one of my favourite restaurant over here. Big was my surprise when we drove off, just to find Khalid in the middle of a road crossing, walking about, with his car crashed. He had driven…

Karpaz Gate Marina Beach Club
Yesterday we were back at the beach club for another relaxing day. Met up with the Robbos together with Tony and Marg, who had come up from the dark side (the south side of Cyprus). Weather has changed a bit, even though it is sunny all day, you can feel the the air is slightly cooler. The pool felt like a pond of icy water. We measured it to 26 degrees. This shows how spoiled we are. Having 26 degrees back home would be considered boiling hot. Nothing exiting happened during the day. Had lunch up there and nearly finished reading my book. Found Papillon by Henry Charriere in the…

Last week
No update last half week as we have been quite busy. Thursday started by driving into town. Tove had an appointment with Pamper Yourself to do her nails. This beauty salon is really good, according to Tove. The price over here for such treatment is 120 TL compared to 1000 kr at home for the same, not bad. We then went downtown to have my wrist watch battery changed. Cost 20tl compared to 250 kr back home. Not bad either. The store also advertised Rolex from 40 euros. Think I may afford one next time we’re there. Must prove it is a real fake one ?. Next on the list…

Lord’s Palace and Bella Marin
Once again we we back at this fabulous place for sunbading, a dip into the sea, and being spoiled by this site’s great service. Linda, Derek and Joanne had booked a cabana and luckily asked us to join. Can’t explain our gratitude. The place is incredible to an incredible price. The cabana is 350tl on weekdays with up to 6 people. The price included water bottles for all, a welcome drink and a huge fruit basket. With food and beverage package for 1000 tl, you chose whatever you like from the menu. In addition to the cabana itself, there is also 4 sun beds and an umbrella.

Official opening of our extended roof terrace
Yesterday we had invited some good friend to see the sun set and officially open our extended roof terrace. As it was close to 2 weeks since our last shopping, we started the day with shopping trip to Kyrenia to have all necessities in place for the evening. Dropped in to Little Stones to have a word with Ozy and David, only to find we were expected and lunch were prepared. Had lovely smoked salmon and a glass of white. The white was Mud House Sauvignon Blanc. Thank you David and Ozy. As mentioned above, Mud House, is our favourite white at present. Not that it is the best in…
